Give Crayons New Life, Give the World a Break. The main goal of this campaign is to upcycle broken crayons as they are a serious problem in our environment.
We collect broken crayons by placing our boxes in restaurants, libraries and schools. Then we convert the broken pieces back into useable pieces, which are then donated to children's aid society and shelters.

Upcycling broken crayons helps reduce the amount of waste in landfills. Crayons, made from petroleum by-products, which don’t biodegrade and can sit in landfills for over 100 years. By recycling crayons, we take a meaningful step toward reducing pollution and protecting the planet for future generations.

Crayons are made from paraffin wax, a by-product of petroleum, which harms wildlife through destructive drilling practices. When crayons are thrown away, they often end up in landfills where they form a waxy sludge that can take decades to decompose. This sludge releases harmful chemicals into the soil and water, threatening the health and survival of wildlife.

By repurposing broken crayons, you reduce the demand for new raw materials used in crayon production. This helps conserve natural resources and energy used in manufacturing. Recycling and upcycling broken crayons create a circular economy where waste is minimized, and resources are used more efficiently.

This initiative also alleviates some of the financial burden on families who may struggle to afford art supplies. By providing these materials, you help reduce educational costs for parents, allowing them to allocate their resources to other essential needs.
Additionally, purchasing crayons from local or small businesses supports local economies and promotes financial stability within the community. By promoting sustainable practices through upcycling broken crayons, you contribute to cost savings in waste management and resource use.

By providing children with new crayons, you give them the tools to unleash their creativity and imagination. Crayons are a fundamental art supply that can inspire kids to explore their artistic talents, express themselves through drawing and coloring, and develop fine motor skills. Access to new, vibrant crayons encourages children to engage in artistic activities, which can enhance their cognitive development and provide them with a constructive outlet for their emotions and ideas.

Donating to people in need can demonstrate your concern for social justice, as it reflects a commitment to addressing inequalities and supporting those who are less fortunate. Social justice involves promoting fairness and equality within society, and acts of generosity, such as donating to those in need, can be one way of contributing to these broader goals. However, social justice also encompasses systemic change, so while donations are valuable, they are part of a larger effort to create a more just and equitable society.
